Meet the team
Roscoe is the law dog at A&M Law, a mixed breed with a gentle, comforting personality and a pair of very kind eyes. Clients respond to him warmly, often before they have said a word about their case, and many have told us they find him a comforting presence while discussing difficult, personal legal issues.
Legal matters tend to arrive during the most difficult chapters of a person's life. Roscoe has sat beside many clients through exactly those moments, offering support without judgment, without an agenda, and with an unwavering willingness to simply be there. For someone walking into a law office anxious or overwhelmed, that calming presence can make all the difference.
Outside of office hours, Roscoe keeps busy with the things he loves most: squirrel watching, long hikes through the Montana outdoors, and well earned naps in the sunshine. He takes each of these responsibilities very seriously.

Why There Is a Dog in the Law Office
Nobody comes to a law firm on a good day. The people who walk through the door at 319 West Pine Street are usually in the middle of a divorce, facing a criminal charge, or working out where their children are going to live. A first consultation asks them to explain the worst thing currently happening to them, out loud, to a stranger.
Roscoe lowers the temperature in that room. People who arrive braced for a formal, intimidating office meet a dog first, and the conversation that follows tends to start somewhere easier. That is not a small thing when the quality of the legal advice depends on how completely someone is willing to tell you what happened.
It fits how the firm works generally. A&M Law stays deliberately small, and the Cooperative Family Law practice the partners built is founded on the same idea: that lowering the conflict in a room usually produces a better outcome than raising it.
If You'd Rather Not Meet a Dog
Plenty of people are allergic to dogs, nervous around them, or simply not in the mood. That is completely fine and it will not make your appointment any different. Tell Dakota when you book, or mention it when you arrive, and Roscoe will stay out of the room. No one has ever had to explain why.
Roscoe is an office dog, not a certified therapy or service animal, and he does not go to court. He works the waiting room and the consultation room at the Missoula office during regular office hours.
